Documents

Documents necessary to purchase railway tickets, and boarding trains in Russia:

  • Travel passport
  • Visa (if required) + Birth Certificate for children under 14 years old (if no passport issued)

Entry visas

If you travel outside of Russia to an international destination, you are required to have a travel passport and (if required) visa for the destination country.
However, railways personnel is not responsible for any possible consequences if you do not have documents required for
entry to international destination. Foreign travel visas are the responsibility of a passenger. Please consult with your travel agent or call
consulate or embassy of a country you are traveling to from the list below.

Transportation of animals

Small domestic animal: dogs, cats, birds, etc. being transported in a luggage car only with no change of a train to your final destination.

Transportation of dogs:

  • in kennel or dog travel bag with pallets in baggage cars;
  • in passenger car (second-class carriage), but no more than 2 dogs of large size muzzled and leashed, under supervision of owners, which should travel in the same car;
  • a passenger has to pay per number of seats in compartment required for the pets.
  • any size dogs will increase your luggage fee for extra 20 kg/44 lbs weight.

Transportation of small domestic animals and birds allowed in all classes type of car (except fist class), if it is not forbidden by veterinary rules, may requireappropriate veterinary certificates.
Carry on Luggage

Carry On Luggage may not exceed 36 kg/79lbs for each passenger and child travelling with a ticket

Each passenger is allowed to carry 50 kg/110 lbs of luggage; additional fees apply for extra weight and a luggage space in a car compartment. Additional luggage space can be purchased only for the compartment you travel in.
Does not apply for higher class/type train.
